Welcome to Wekiva

Wekiva Elementary is a special place where teachers, staff and students can laugh, grow and learn together.  We are proud to be consistently ranked an 'A' School by the Florida Department of Education.  Our parents generously volunteer their time to work with students and support the school by raising money for various projects that help to improve our school.  It is truly a community effort.  The school was constructed in 1978 and fully renovated in 2017.  We fully support the SCPS philosophy of the Three A's: Academics, Arts and Athletics.  Our mascot is a Koala and we strive to provide our students with a 'Koality' elementary school experience.

For over thirty years, third grade students, their grandparents and other seniors from the community have gathered for a few friendly games of Checkers. This special event is the culmination of a unit where third graders read stories that include the game of Checkers and the concept of friendship and working together.Checker tournaments are held in each classroom and the 1st and 2nd place winner in each room are allowed to play on the live checker board.Students and guests are asked to dress in red and black. A Checker King and Queen are elected in each classroom by the students. The award is given to the best dressed boy and girl in each classroom. This is an event that our students and community look forward to every year.
