At Wekiva we have worked hard to incorporate guided reading into our classrooms. Guiding Reading enables a teacher to read a book with a small group for specific purposes. We have a large selection of books in our guided reading room that we check out for our classrooms. When we are done with the lesson on a specific title, the children are able to take these books home to reread and share. We also use other sources for our lessons such as Literacy Place by Scholastic. This reading series has excellent examples of children's literature and related activities.
