Disney Dreamer and Doer
Who are the Disney Dreamers and Doers?
“They are the curious ones who become involved in their investigations. Their confidence shows a strong sense of self worth, and they display a great deal of courage in pursuing their objectives regardless of adversity. They are the loyal and steadfast whose constancy underscores their strength of character. Disney Dreamers and Doers are the students who give 110% to every effort they undertake.”
How is Wekiva’s Dreamer and Doer selected?
Each year Walt Disney World invites schools to select a Disney Dreamer and Doer. Wekiva invites 5th grade students to tell how they demonstrate Walt Disney’s Four C’s _ Curiosity, Confidence, Courage, and Constancy. Students complete an application form listing their school activities and activities outside of school (such as sports, music, theater, dance, visual arts, scouting, church, synagogue, mosque, community volunteer work, etc.) and write a one page essay describing why he or she would be a good representative of Wekiva Elementary for the Disney Dreamer and Doer recognition. Finalists are selected from the applications and essays and interviewed by the administration.
ABC Awards
Staff members give ABC Awards (Academics, Behavior, Citizenship) to students setting a good example. The top portion is a certificate that students may take home. The bottom portion is filled out and placed in a drawing jar in the office. Each month a drawing is held and eight (8) students in kindergarten, first grade and second grade are selected. Eight (8) students from third, fourth, and fifth grade are also selected.
The lucky winners are treated to lunch with Mr. Pfeiffer and Ms. Robinson courtesy of our business partner, Papa John’s Pizza. Kindergarten, first and second graders eat lunch at 11:30 and third, fourth and fifth grade students eat lunch at 12:30. Students anxiously await the announcement about ABC Lunch! The names are announced on KNN (Koala News Network) early in the week of the luncheon.
