Arrivals & Dismissals

Arrival and Dismissal Procedures

We need your help to keep arrival and dismissal times safe and orderly for all our students. Children should not arrive at school before 8:05 a.m.

Please note that supervision is not provided before 8:05 a.m.

Arrival and dismissal procedures for each group of students is listed below.

If You Walk Your Child to School

After the first week of school, please say goodbye to your child when you reach the designated waiting area. A tunnel was built so that students who live close to school can cross the street without traffic concerns.

For the safety of all students, we ask that parents not linger and visit. We need to make sure that supervising staff members can easily see students. In the afternoon, we ask that you meet your students at the designated gate for your child's walker zone.

Car Riders

The car ramp is located on Holderness Drive. We have observed as many as 300 cars in the parent pick-up line. We encourage you to car pool or allow your child to walk or bike with friends. The parent pick-up line will work more smoothly if you follow these procedure. Please be patient and courteous. We appreciate your cooperation.

  1. Each family will be provided a dismissal sign. Please display this sign on the passenger side visor or rear view mirror. Staff members will identify the car and call students for loading. Please help us identify your car! That means less time in line for you! Stay in your car and continue to pull forward as directed by staff.
  2. Do not arrive too early. Drivers that arrive after 3:10 p.m. will have less wait time.
  3. Encourage children to stay alert, watch for the car, and enter quickly. Be sure your child knows what the car or van looks like.
  4. Pull up all the way as directed by staff members. Do not stop to load your child if there is empty space in front of your car.
  5. Remain in the Parent Pick-Up line. Students are not permitted to cross the parking lot.
  6. Please do not leave your car unattended in the Parent Pick-Up line. Do not leave your car to get your child.
  7. Please do not carry on a lengthy conversation at the Parent Pick-Up with teachers, assistants, or other parents.
  8. All children must be picked up no later than 3:30 p.m.

Walkers And Bikers

We have many walkers and bikers at Wekiva and we would encourage you to allow your child to walk or bike if you are close to the school. Crossing guards are posted at major intersections. Walkers and bikers should go directly to the designated waiting area near their classroom. We recommend that all bikes be locked and that students wear helmets. Remind your student of bike safety rules.

Bus And Day Care Riders

All buses and day care vans will drop off and pick up at the bus ramp located in front of the P.E. Pavilion. Cars are not permitted on the bus ramp during arrival and dismissal times.
