2nd Grade 2015 Silk Road Project

Our science lab teacher, Ms. Gabrovich and our gifted teacher, Ms. Raker designed and implemented a silkworm project for all of our second grade students.  The students learned about the life cycle of the silkworm by observing and recording the development of the silkworm.  They also learned about how silk is produced and used.

The PBL Unit addressed the following second grade learning goals:
1. The students will be able to observe and describe the major stages in the life cycle of a silkworm.
2. The students will be able to compare and contrast the needs that all living things have for survival.
3. The students will be able to recognize and explain that living things are only able to survive in habitats that meet their basic needs.
