Students are expected to be in class by 8:35 a.m., when instruction begins. There will be no supervision of students prior to 8:05 a.m. and after 3:35 p.m. (after 2:35 p.m. on Wednesdays). Supervision of breakfast participants will begin at 8:05 a.m. For the safety of the children, no students are to be on campus when no supervision is available. If students are not picked up within one hour of the regular dismissal time, and if reasonable efforts have been made to contact parents or persons listed as emergency contacts, students may be taken to the Sheriff's Office to wait for transportation home. Any student who arrives after classes begin must report to the Front Office to get a TARDY SLIP. Tardy students must not be dropped off. Parents must sign in students in the front office.
Any student leaving school during the school day must be signed out in the front office by the parent or an authorized person listed on the security card. Under no circumstances will a child be released to someone who is not listed on the security card. The security code listed on the security card will be requested when the Front Office staff does not recognize the parent. Proper identification may also be required in the form of a photo I.D. For safety reasons, students will not be dismissed on their own, even with a note from a parent.
We need your help to keep arrival and dismissal times safe and orderly for all our students. Children should not arrive at school before 8:05 a.m.
Please note that supervision is not provided before 8:05 a.m.
Arrival and dismissal procedures for each group of students is listed below.
After the first week of school, please say goodbye to your child when you reach the designated waiting area. A tunnel was built so that students who live close to school can cross the street without traffic concerns.
For the safety of all students, we ask that parents not linger and visit. We need to make sure that supervising staff members can easily see students. In the afternoon, we ask that you meet your students at the designated gate for your child's walker zone.
The car ramp is located on Holderness Drive. We have observed as many as 300 cars in the parent pick-up line. We encourage you to car pool or allow your child to walk or bike with friends. The parent pick-up line will work more smoothly if you follow these procedure. Please be patient and courteous. We appreciate your cooperation.
We have many walkers and bikers at Wekiva and we would encourage you to allow your child to walk or bike if you are close to the school. Crossing guards are posted at major intersections. Walkers and bikers should go directly to the designated waiting area near their classroom. We recommend that all bikes be locked and that students wear helmets. Remind your student of bike safety rules.
All buses and day care vans will drop off and pick up at the bus ramp located in front of the P.E. Pavilion. Cars are not permitted on the bus ramp during arrival and dismissal times.
